A Portable Sawmill Success Story

By: Charles Kennedy, Renick, WV

I would like to tell you a little about me and my experiences with my MP30 Portable Sawmill.

Upon my retirement in 1998 I purchased a small farm in Renick, WV. I am a firm believer in staying active as you get older (I am 58). I was looking for something that I could work at part-time and found several ads in magazines for different bandmills. After getting information on ten different machines and receiving Cooks video on sawmilling I was sold on the strength and price of your machine.

I placed an order for an MP30 and it was ready three days earlier than promised. I’ve been using this machine for two and a half years now. I have cut in excess of 300,000 board foot to date. The largest log I’ve cut so far is a 48” x 16’ red oak. The largest job to date is a log cabin 22,000 board foot.

When I was setting up for a log cabin job I received two other jobs from people stopping to watch. My best customer is a business that recycles old barns. This work pays me $30 per hour.

The maintenance on my machine has been only two bearings on the roller guides and one set of V Belts for the band wheels. The belts were received from you the day after calling to place the order.

I commend you for your prompt and courteous service. My business has reached a point where a hydraulic machine may be in my future. Your machine will be my first choice.
